2021/22 Artistic Season

Black Terror

In partnership with Newark Symphony Hall and Yendor Theatre Company, WACO is producing the film adaptation of Richard Wesley’s play Black Terror. The production is directed by Co-Artistic Director Richard Lawson, and will be available for the public in the Fall of 2022. 

Films For Teens By Teens

The Films For Teens By Teens Inaugural Film Festival showcased student films created as a tool for self-expression, communication, and mental health awareness. These impactful works elevate and empower young voices through the full filmmaking process. 

I Got The Mic Poetic Experience 

Fixated on wordplay, metaphors, expression, and creative storytelling, the I Got The Mic: Poetic Experience is a series of virtual events showcasing poets, spoken word artists, musicians, and wordsmiths from Los Angeles and around the world, sharing stories of the African diaspora.

The Evolution Of African Dance

The Evolution of African Dance is an installment from our Evolution of African Culture series, launched in 2020. The series is an assortment of performing arts, humanities and education events conceived to explore how the African artistic aesthetic is represented in contemporary Black art.
