THE EVOLUTION OF AFRICAN CULTURE

We introduced our first thematic season in 2020. Events were curated under the theme, The Evolution of African Culture. The series consisted of performing arts, humanities and educational events conceived to explore how the African artistic aesthetic is represented in contemporary Black art. WACO is committed to both the sharing of classic plays within the Black canon and to supporting established artists. WACO produced No Place to be Somebody, by Charles Gordone, a 1969 play which received the 1970 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
